CD - CHOPIN

Motion Trio does not play Chopin on accordions. This group discovers the composer again. It shows how much potential lies dormant in mazurkas and preludes as well as the great wealth of sound that button accordions may give. All this thanks to the excellent arrangement of Janusz Wojtarowicz. Audiophilistic and free of electronic recording effects only increase the value of the album. Among many projects during Chopin's jubilee year, this deserves the highest praise.

"(...) Janusz Wojtarowicz is not only a great performer, but also a great arranger. He managed to bring the piano's smooth and mobile melodies to the accordion. Nothing has been lost. You can even say that the compositions have benefited. Preludes, waltzes and mazurkas have received a new sound, worthy of our times. They have been born once again, attracting attention and brining fascination. The musicians have used them to produce a performance full of emotions and dramatic events, dance, joy and melancholy. Motion Trio's Chopin project is one of the few that deserve a round of applause among the sea of pseudo-original glances at the music of our biggest composer. The CD contains a LIVE recording made at LA FOLLE JOURNÉE in Nantes. It was recorded as audiophilic as possible - on a two-track tape recorder, without any additional sound processing. The sound is in essence documentary, very close, full of murmurs from the audience, and even the musicians’ conversations. Accordions fill the recording space, adding to the dynamism of performance and causing the listener to not only to be an observer, but almost a participant in this performance. It's worth adding this CD to your collection and listening to it not only on Chopin's anniversary, but whenever we want to know Chopin in an unbuttoned tuxedo, but with a head full of brilliant ideas. I highly recommend it! (...)
