The evening bursting with music - Motion Trio from Krakow together with Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg in Nikolaisaal

Friday evening concert attracted crowd of young people to Nikolaisaal, many of them with evident knowing of specificity of Motion Trio's style. Playing with Babelsberg Deutsches Filmorchester the Polish group have presented innovative concert form. Arrangements for Motion Trio and the orchestra prepared for this occasion by Krzesimir D�bski, caused slight stage fright among organisers. Yet, from the very first piece it appeared that the anxiety concerning the premiere was absolutelu unfounded, because each detail was perfectly blended and Scott Lawton had no problems in ... �eby zgra� rozp�tanych Krakowiak�w z elastyczn� i p�ynnie reaguj�c� orkiestr�.



„Here comes Motion Trio” - entitled uverture for orchestra and Polish masters of accordion refered to it quickly and naturally. Perfect play of accordions resounded and almost boiled the hall. Compositions connected to cosmos and techniques in subject dominated the concert e.g. ”UFO”, „Space Carrousel” or „Helicopter”. However "Yellow trabant" called in the cult GDR wehicle parodying anthem of GDR and the song of Sand Grandpa from East German cartoon. The audience had a lot of fun!



Motion Trio consists of founder Janusz Wojtarowicz, Pawe� Baranek and Marcin Ga�a�yn. Motion Trio is winning music world from a decade, during which their accordion play gained the maturity of live performance. Their musical style draws from all possible music trends, past and contemporary with particular passion to minimalistic music of Philip Glass or Steve Reich. Motion Trio proves that the accordion may be played like a drum.



During the show Janusz Wojtarowicz resembles a dancing dervish. Rarely staying in one position for more than minute, often kneels and turns encouraging the conductor, the orchestra and the band to daring movements. Subtle melodies also appeared like beautiful „Silence” accompanied by the orchestra. Wojciech Kilar's "Orawa" and "You Dance" deserve special recognition. The first, with reminiscences of Polish national dances, have gained a hit status. The other with quotations from Arabic music.



Undoubtedly that was an evening bursting with music which in this combination won faithful fans.
