рецензие: Pictures From The Street 09.05.2005 Autor: Motion Team Translate: Motion Team While playing his accordion in Vienna one day, Motion Trio founder Janusz Wojtarowicz was eyeing his empty moneybox when a local told him he needed to place it further away.
Heeding the advice, Wojtarowicz set it five meters onto the street. Within minutes it was run over by a horse carriage advertising a Mozart concert. This story is a fitting tale if we take into consideration what Wojtarowicz and crew Marcin Galazyn and Pawel Baranek are doing for the future of accordion music. Using no other instrumentation than one keyboard and two button accordions, this debut record sounds as if an entire orchestra performed (Mozart would, hopefully, be proud). Not only is the trio diverse in sound, but genre as well; this is not your average polka. Throw in tango, obviously, jazz and even the fringes of club music, and a sundry panorama unfolds. Hailing from Poland, all three are trained professionally, walking a thin boundary between academic efficiency and jamband improvisation. That is, their songs are learned but not inflexible. The slow, waltzing tromp of "Little Story" begins with a Red Riding Hood-ish score trouncing through an obtuse forest before exploding in the jazzy "Tango." "Scotsman" is an accordionized tribute to the pibroch, with a heavy drone creating vast space behind the piping solo. "Pageant" moves into Piazzolla territory, surrounded by a hearty low-end reminiscent of Morphine1s melancholic brilliance. "Caf Paris" sounds like an outtake to a Kubrick soundtrack, and the long, closing "Aide Jano" solidifies this trio1s introduction to the world outside Krakow: a sweepingly heartfelt stroll exploding into an ominous wall of sheer intensity. Exceptional concert will proceed in london Barbican Centre 8 april 2009. Motion Trio will take a stand with Michael Nyman (piano) and his group . In repertoire - work of master, pieces for Peter Greenaway's movies and composition written specially on this occasion, in first-night execution by Motion Trio and Michael Nyman Band.
