World Musicians in Krakow, JOE ZAWINUL with SYNDICATE and Krakow band MOTION TRIO with TRILOK GURTU will certailny be this year's greatest music attraction in Krakow.
Musicians from five continents (Austria, USA, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Maroco, Mauritius, Kongo, India and Poland) will become part of unique event - a quality presentation of World Music.
Joe Zawinul legendary jazz pianist, keyboard player, arrangerer, composer, one of best valued musicians in the world of jazz and world music. He have cooperated with the greatests jazz legends, as Ella Fitzgerald, Jaco Pastorius, Miles Davis. In 1971 together with Wayne Shorter created Weather Report - the most famous fusion group. The band have recorded 16 records and the piece "Mercy, mercy, mercy" gained Grammy Awars. In 1985 Joe Zawinul started solo career. Since then inspiration with world music and musical cultures different to jazz bedomes evident. Syndicate was created in order to realise his musical ideas.
The only concert in Poland, in Krakow is part of Zawinul's 75th anniversary tournee in Europe. Joe Zawinul - magician of the electronics will perform together with splendid musicians and a vocalist Sabine Kabongo known form Zap Mama.
MOTION TRIO with TRILOK GURTU will be the first performance this evening. Trilok Gurtu - master of tabla and percussions have cooperated with various artists from Zakir Hussain, through jazz masters as John McLaughlin, Joe Zawinul, Pat Metheny, Dave Holland, Jan Garbarek, to such stars as Gary Moore, Robert Miles, Sting, Annie Lennox, or the legendary band Oregon. Down Beat have been choosing him seven times a percussionist of the year. According to Hindu tradition Trilok Gurtu plays all his percussion instrumens sitting on floor.
